I have recently been working with ECOLED a lighting and architecture design company who specialise in the art and application of LED light technology (for interior and exterior installations for illuminations and decoration.)
I have been challenged by these images as the photography is a world apart from my usual social documentary yet I am strangely drawn to the final finished images.
First and foremost, the biggest change is not having people in them, and so a much more relaxed way of shooting and no pressure to get the shot first go or fear of pestering!
I have learned to appreciate the beauty and precision in photographing what out of context is an extremely visually exciting and abstract image.
The hard lines and dark black shadows in the images give a really strong images and the jagged metallic edges really stand out in these pictures.
All these images have been shot on an Arctic white backdrop using 2 soft boxes at either side and then edited in Photoshop afterwards.
The image below is what the shot looks like before cropping and colour balancing and the one below that is one step further and photographed at an angle to create an even more abstract composition.
Who said product photography was boring?
